The “Patto per Cesena” list wants to think about the future of the “old” Bufalini. It’s true, the New Hospital is still in the making, but a forward-looking policy must ask itself – right now – what will become of the old structure.
Patto per Cesena proposes to separate the fate of the “Piastra”, which is the most recent part, from that of the large building which, today, houses almost all the departments. La Piastra would maintain a healthcare purpose and would become ancillary to the new large complex near the A14. The older structure, however, renovated and reorganized, could largely accommodate individual municipal activities, such as the registry office, social services and private housing. The Albornoz Palace in Piazza del Popolo would remain the seat of city politics, but the old hospital would become the home of the Citizen-Administration relationship.
Let’s think about how much benefit citizens would derive from it in terms of easy access and easy parking. Today, the people of Cesena complain about difficulties in entering and parking in the historic centre: by positioning the municipal offices “outside the walls” and the restricted traffic zone, no more fines and idling! And at the old Bufalini there would be a huge car park available, both for those who work and for those who use the services.
Moving the offices in contact with the public would free up parking spaces in the city center, which are currently occupied by many employees, and would leave a greater number of free spaces for those who want to shop in a shop or take a walk among the outdoor areas. Pact for Cesena proposes the debate to the other political forces from now on. What to do with the old hospital? We have an idea and we put it on the table. The others?
