Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua at the parish of Santa Maria Vetere
The message of the parish priest and the minor friars of the parish community of Santa Maria Vetere, and the program of the Solemn Celebrations in honor of Saint Anthony of Padua: Tredicina – Transit – Procession – Historical Reenactment Parade.

Dearest devoted friends of the Saint,
Dear all faithful of the parish of Santa Maria Vetere, this year too we are about to experience our beautiful celebration in honor of the Saint of Padua whom our community of S. Maria Vetere trusts and is honored to have as its special protector. We are experiencing this moment of joy in a particular year: we are celebrating 80 years since the establishment of our beloved Parish and we like to think of how many in these eighty years of community life have lived in the shadow of Saint Anthony and have entrusted themselves to his powerful intercession to implore Graces from God our Father.
This year is also special because we are on the eve of the great Jubilee of 2025 which will see us committed as a Catholic church to being in the world “Pilgrims of Hope” .
We therefore like to begin this pilgrimage of hope with our dear Saint of Padua right now – just as Pope Francis invited us -put ourselves in the school of prayer because only through it can we develop and spread within ourselves and around us those seeds of Hope that will certainly produce New Life, the one that Christ inaugurated with his death and resurrection.
Prayer is an affective feeling of man who adheres to God, it is a devout and familiar conversation with God, it is a pause for the enlightened mind to enjoy God… these and many other definitions of prayer that Saint Anthony gives us in his Sermons .
Let us then follow the school of Saint Anthony, evangelical doctor and make prayer the vital center of our existence to be men and women in the world who sow hope at every moment. Let us entrust ourselves to the Saint of Padua and to Him in particular we entrust all those who, through their commitment and economic support, allow this celebration in honor of him to be held again.
Thanks to everyone and: “long live Sant’Antonio”.
