“Our city deserves more”

Press Conference at the Pincio of the centrist Mayoral Candidate: “Tourism as a challenge, we must plan for the future”

The mayoral candidate Paolo Poletti presented his project for the tourism development of Civitavecchia yesterday, in a crowded press conference held in the Cutuli hall inside the Civitavecchia municipal building.

The project has a purely scientific approach and was born from an analysis conducted in detail in recent months by an important research and development body, the CER Centro Europa Ricerche.

The first impression one gets from it is that more than the usual soup that looks at tourism and is filled with terms borrowed from marketing and some beautiful images, once this project is put on the ground it will constitute a real revolution which will benefit not only the specific sector but also all related activities up to citizens.

Paid election message

Cruise tourism is becoming an increasingly young phenomenon, of which the City is currently unable to exploit the potential which cannot be limited to catering alone and to satisfying accommodation needs.

We need to make an impact by improving the quantity and quality of overnight stays and putting the offer of a historic, spa and seaside Civitavecchia on the table.

The Largo della Pace hub must be completely redesigned, possibly exploiting the potential of the Italcementi site and providing a specific support offer for the crews disembarking and embarking.

Today we are witnessing a particular phenomenon, that of commuting within the municipal area. An improvement in this aspect of the citizen’s life would also have a notable influence on the internal movement of tourists.

Civitavecchia is static, concluded candidate Poletti, everything moves slowly. We will reorganize the cultural services connected to tourism and with this we will attract the necessary investments from the hospitality sector.

We have a challenge ahead of us that we can win but we must remain focused. The future is near, but we must have the ability to know how to plan it.
