Leonardi (ministry): “For the One Health model, everyone’s participation is necessary”

(Adnkronos) – “The Ministry of Health is very happy to be here this morning because the One Health approach does not specifically concern the Ministry of Health or only the healthcare supply chain”, but is a model that “requires the collaboration of multiple institutions , because it’s about bringing human health, animal health and environmental health together. Precisely for this reason, obviously everything cannot be closed in a single supply chain, but everyone’s contribution is needed”. Giovanni Leonardi, head of the One Health and International Relations Department of the Ministry of Health, told Adnkronos Salute on the sidelines of the presentation – today in the Chamber – of the results of the ‘One Health Project – Schools in Action’ project, a game for global health which involved 1,600 high school students from all over Italy.

“When we talk about One Health – he underlines – we are talking, for example, about lifestyles and therefore adopting lifestyles concerns all citizens. And this is the reason why training is fundamental, as well as making young people aware of the issues of environmental sustainability, where they are obviously already very sensitized, but also of the fact that their future, their future life does not depend only on environmental healthiness , animal, but it also depends on the lifestyles they adopt”.

“As the Ministry of Health we have established a joint table with the Ministry of Education in which we discuss these issues together. Everything that may concern the relationship between health and education is discussed at this table, we have made various initiatives and clearly this one on One Health will also be central to the work”, concludes Leonardi.
