European elections, countdown The voting guide and the candidates – Pescara

PESCARA. Fifteen people from Abruzzo running, twelve lists lined up and over one million and 200 voters: these are the numbers for the European elections.
Voting takes place on Saturday 8 June from 3pm to 11pm, and on Sunday 9th from 7am to 11pm. Italy has been divided into five constituencies and the ballot papers will have different colours: grey, for electoral constituency I – north-western Italy (Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Liguria, Lombardy); brown, for electoral constituency II – north-eastern Italy (Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna); ruby red, for electoral district III – central Italy (Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Lazio); orange, for electoral constituency IV – southern Italy (Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria); and pink, for electoral constituency V – insular Italy (Sicily, Sardinia).
There are over 350 million people entitled to vote in the European Union. In Abruzzo there are 1,208,276 voters of which 592,041 men and 616,235 women out of a census population of 1,275,950. There are 1,634 polling stations. In conjunction with the European elections, local elections will also take place in over 3,900 municipalities in Italy, 98 of which in Abruzzo, including Pescara, Montesilvano and Giulianova.
HOW MANY PLACES
Out of 705 MEPs, Italy elects 76, chosen from the five constituencies. Each electoral constituency is assigned a number of seats based on the resident population. Eighteen of the 76 Italian MEPs who will sit in Brussels will therefore be elected in the Southern Constituency. The members elected in the MEP (in office for 5 years, divided into political groups and not by state) will elect the president of the European Commission.
We vote with the proportional system, there are no coalitions on the ballot paper and no majority prizes. The only obligation for the lists is to exceed the national threshold of 4 percent in order to then compete to divide the seats proportionally based on the national result of the list. Once the numbers of those elected for each list and constituency have been established, the person with the most preferences in absolute terms becomes an MEP. The position at the top of the list or the order of the list does not give the right to any advantage.
HOW TO VOTE
To vote, the voter from Abruzzo will receive an orange card (see the facsimile published on the page) with twelve party symbols, separated from each other in boxes.
You vote by drawing the cross on the symbol of the chosen party. And up to three preferences can be expressed for candidates connected to the same list. Split voting is not permitted.
Preferences are expressed by writing the candidate’s name and surname, or just the name or surname except in cases of homonymy. If 2 or 3 candidates are chosen, both sexes must be represented (i.e. a man and a woman, two men and a woman, or two women and a man).
However, voters also have the right not to indicate any preference, in this case the vote will not by default go to the list leader indicated by the party, but only to the list.
DOCUMENTS
Anyone aged 18 or over can vote. And to do this you need the electoral card with still free spaces and a valid identification document.
On 8 and 9 June, for the first time, even “off-site” students from Abruzzo will be able to vote for the lists and candidates of their constituency of origin, without the need to return to the municipality of residence (see the article published below). But this time, being an experimental system, the possibility has not been extended to off-site workers.
THE DEPLOYMENTS
