Mourning in the world of La Spezia sport. Euro Gioan, a point of reference, together with Franco Ardito and Luciano Puccetti, of local basketball and in particular of Canaletto Basket, has passed away at the age of 92. Numerous messages of condolence for his passing from which emerges the image of a man who loved sport, an exemplary husband, father and grandfather. He was a huge fan of his grandchildren Davide, Lorenzo and Rossella. Canaletto basketball paid homage to him by recalling that: “There are no words capable of alleviating this pain, we can only hold ourselves tight alongside his son Danilo, our coach, and his grandchildren Davide and Rossella, respectively president and coach of our club. Out of respect for Euro’s wishes, no funeral will be held, but we hope that his memory can live on in the hearts of all those kids who met him near a basketball court.” The thought of councilor Patrizia Saccone was also moving: “Hi Euro, you were an exemplary husband and an extraordinary grandfather. Now you can watch your basketball games from up there together with Franco and Luciano. We will always carry you in our hearts.” The memory of the Tarros sports club is profound: “Spezia Tarros is close to Euro Gioan’s family. A man for whom the Club had great affection and esteem has passed away, a basketball enthusiast who did so much to help this sport grow in our province.” Gioan will rest at the Boschetti cemetery, the last farewell will be in a civil form today at 3.30 pm.
