ANCONA – Sometimes even bad luck has a hand in it. And it must be said that unfortunately it often happens at Sanzio. The bad luck on a regular basis was recorded on Sunday evening on the frequencies of the Marche airport, when the second half of the territorial continuity marked SkyAlsp. Since yesterday, in fact, the South Tyrolean company should have operated the routes to Milan and Naples with the ATRs.

Back in time

A return to the past (it was the type of aircraft used by Aeroitalia, as requested by the tender) compared to the very fast Dash that SkyAlps had brought to the Sanzio runways since 1 April. Change in progress due to the fact that the two connections are covered with rented planes and the ATRs had been found on the market. Not bad: the important thing is to be able to reach the destination. But this is precisely where the mechanism got stuck. On Sunday evening, while the ATR was traveling (empty) towards Sanzio to position itself on the runway and leave the next morning at 8am for Milan, it suffered a breakdown and was no longer able to take off. And last night they were still waiting for the spare part.

Schedule change

In the meantime, the outbound flights (at 8am and 4pm) and return flights (at 11.30am and 7.30pm) to and from Milan, and the rotation to Naples (outbound at 12.30pm) have disappeared from the airport boards. ; return at 3.15pm). All canceled and around 20 passengers left on the ground. And hopefully the spare part will arrive in time, otherwise the script could be repeated today too. No problems were recorded, however, in the Ancona-Rome connection: here, in fact, SkyAlps continues to use its Dash, so the route has not undergone any changes due to the technical fault. Nobody wants to throw the cross on the South Tyrolean company: an aircraft failure can happen and is not predictable. But after the repeated disruptions caused by Aeroitalia on territorial continuity – almost always justified with technical failures – when the people of the Marche see canceled flights, they immediately jump on their seats. And the fact that the ATR breaks down just on the eve of the start of the new course does not sound like a good sign at all. But let’s remain optimistic and hope it’s just an initial stumble.

The announcement

While waiting for the Ministry of Infrastructure, Region and Enac to define the perimeter of the new tender to permanently entrust the territorial continuity service of the Marche region from next October. The hypothesis is to put more resources on the table to make the tender attractive and not let it go deserted. In the meantime, the hope is that stumbles are kept to a minimum. Sanzio’s bad luck permitting.
