Union Valdôtaine: De Giorgis and Farcoz candidates for president.
Joel Farcoz, 36 years old, engineer, former councilor and regional councilor, has chosen Patrizia Morelli as vice president e Michel Savin as treasurer.
Daniele De Giorgis49 years old, teacher of art and images, mayor of Lillianes, introduces himself with Pierre Bonelformer mayor of Arnad, to the vice presidency and Thierry Rosset to the treasury.
Machet leaves
Cristina Machet, elected president in 2021, passes the baton. «I’m happy to have completed the mission – she confides -. The recomposition is upon us and we need a replacement for new stimuli.”
Machet says goodbye like this in a post on Facebook: «In these years, sometimes magnificent and sometimes difficult, the Union Valdôtaine has always accompanied me. Sometimes like a warm enveloping blanket, other times like a heavy backpack to carry. But I brought it to the destination set with my Committee: the reconstruction of the autonomist area. Now it’s time for me to step aside and watch his journey continue. Thanks for everything”.
Farcoz: the UV is a socio-cultural movement

Farcoz explains his entry into the field as follows: «The Union Valdôtaine has always been a point of reference for the Aosta Valley people and for their form of self-government. Having a strong UV means having a prosperous Aosta Valley with its rights respected, guaranteeing well-being and development to our region which has governed itself for centuries in its various institutional forms and which strongly believes in European regionalism”. The candidate adds: «For these reasons we make ourselves available: to work to develop ideas to be implemented in the various administrations, to raise awareness of the culture of Alpine life and its development, to encourage young people to invest and believe in this Land, because there is we really need everyone’s help. The Union Valdôtaine does not just represent a political movement, it is first and foremost a socio-cultural movement of those who believe in the socio-economic well-being of the Aosta Valley and in the Aosta Valley cause.”
Morelli: maintain respect
«My availability comes from Joël’s request and from sharing the Alliance movement» he explains Patricia Morelli, passed through Renouveau, VdA Vive, Alpe and Alliance: «I am called upon to represent a mediation figure in this phase to encourage dialogue between everyone». Reflecting on the double candidacy you say: «I hope we can still find a united position, otherwise the rules of democracy must be respected. The important thing is to maintain respect for people.”
De Giorgis: involve everyone in the choices

There has been no lack of contact between Farcoz and De Giorgis but the match has not been found and, in all likelihood, it will not be found. «I am deeply unionist and I have always had the desire to make a contribution – underlines De Giorgis -. Wherever there is a discussion to be had, I am there. Problems can be addressed from all points of view and in political discussions I have always been frank.”
De Giorgis, who does not deny that what pushed him to take the field was «the esteem that many have shown me. My decision is linked to a project: every choice of the Mouvement must be made with the involvement of everyone, starting, above all, from the base. Nothing must be lowered from above.” He concludes: «It’s not a question of names but of method. Comparison is the basis of democracy.”
It will therefore be a two-way challenge on June 16th in Saint-Vincent during the Lion in the Rampant congress. The president-elect will remain in office until after the 2025 Regionals.
