Santa Maria a Vico / Caserta / Benevento / – New Superintendent in Caserta and Benevento. Mariano Nuzzo, ABAP Superintendent of the Naples metropolitan area also assumes the role of ABAP Superintendent of Caserta and Benevento upon delegation of the General Director. Mariano Nuzzo (47 years old), originally from Santa Maria a Vico in the province of Caserta, has a degree in Architecture, Political Science and Archeology and History of Art. He obtained, among other qualifications, the Specialization in Monument Restoration at the Sapienza University of Rome and the Research Doctorate in Conservation of Architectural Heritage at the Vanvitelli University of Campania. He also obtained a 2nd level Master’s degree in Public Administration Management and Policies at the LUISS in Rome and the post-graduate course in “Protection of cultural heritage, historical knowledge and scientific diagnostics for the fight against criminal attacks” with the Army of the Carabinieri and the Ministry of Culture at the Roma Tre University. The architect has been a freelance journalist since 2009, author of numerous publications and scientific articles in the sector of monumental protection and is Director of the scientific magazine Monère. He was a research fellow at the Vanvitelli University of Campania and at the University of Salento, where he also held courses on the history and techniques of restoration. He is a contract professor of Architectural Restoration at the University of Ferrara, where he currently teaches History of Protection at the School of Specialization in Architectural Heritage and Landscape. He is a renowned professor of Architectural Restoration at the Department of Architecture of the Vanvitelli University of Campania. As a militant architect he has conducted numerous restorations in the field of architectural heritage and in the archeology sector, at the same time he has been RUP of important works in the field of cultural heritage. The Superintendent was Honorary Inspector for the protection and supervision of the architectural and landscape heritage of the Province of Caserta in the three-year period 2011-2014 and Honorary Inspector for the protection and supervision of the architectural and landscape heritage of Naples in the three-year period 2016-2019. He was a member of the Technical Secretariat of the Great Pompeii Project in the years 2015-2018 and an official of the Ministry of Culture from 2019 to 2022. Previously he was Director of the “Goddess Diana” Regional Interest Park and Director of the Laocoön Research Institute. Since 2023 he has been ABAP Superintendent of the Naples metropolitan area.
