Cannito applauds the “Renato Moro” classes participating in the “A star named Ilaria Alpi” competition – BarlettaLive.it

Mayor Cosimo Cannito’s applause to the pupils of the 1st and 2nd year of the “Renato Moro” secondary school in Barletta crowned a recent meeting in the Council Room where the classes received by the Mayor recited the song “Ilaria it’s you”.
The verses evoked the Institute’s participation in the national project “A star named Ilaria Alpi”, promoted by the “Paolo Murialdi” Foundation on Journalism. The event, reviving the memory of the Roman journalist murdered in Mogadishu with the operator Miran Hrovatin during a delicate investigation, had the aim of spreading among young people the meaning and value of the right, recognized by the Constitutional Charter, to correct information. We therefore deserve thanks for having represented our city among almost fifty schools participating in the initiative. The classes, represented by the director Lucia Riefolo, the lead teacher Elisabetta Pasquale and three students, attended the final event in the capital, in Montecitorio, where they were awarded prizes. Recognition (a celebratory dish) donated to the First Citizen of Barletta during the meeting in the Town Hall.
“I want to publicly thank them – commented Mayor Cannito – for having distinguished themselves in this praiseworthy educational activity. We can and must be proud of these young people of ours, whose training and increased sense of responsibility will be able to contribute to planning a better tomorrow. We hope for them the well-deserved opportunities so that they can achieve life goals even without abandoning their city and their dearest loved ones. In this direction, we adults and the institutions, each within our respective responsibilities, must support them and act with conviction.”
