Energy efficiency: work completed in the historic schools of Cosenza “Spirito Santo” and “Via Milelli”

COSENZA – Inside the“Spirito Santo” comprehensive institute of Cosenza, also in the presence of the mayor Franz Caruso, the interventions of Urban Agenda which involved the conclusion of the energy redevelopment works of two historic city schools. Particularly in the school buildings of the Holy Spirit and of via Milelli.

Illustrating all the works, completed thanks to Agenda Urbana funds with a total expenditure of 1 million euros for the two complexes, was also the delegated councilor of Agenda Urbana, Francesco Alimena. Both guests of the “Spirito Santo” comprehensive institute and of the school director Massimo Ciglio. A meeting wanted precisely to seal the end of the works carried out within the “Spirito Santo” comprehensive institute, and those carried out within the primary school complex in via Milelli which is part of the “Bonaventura Zumbini” comprehensive institute and which fall within the same Urban Agenda intervention. Also present at the initiative was the Director of the Public Works sector, Eng.Salvatore Modestothe engineer. Maria Colucci, Rup of the intervention, and the company that carried out the work. The aim of the intervention was the energy requalification of the school buildings, maintaining the appearance of the buildings subject to historical protection unchanged.

Francesco Alimena explained that action was taken on “two schools that have represented over time and continue to represent, two fundamental safeguards of the right to education for two popular neighborhoods of the city and which today, thanks to these interventions, look to the future with the awareness of being currently the two healthiest, safest and best redeveloped schools in terms of energy in the entire city area”.

The Headmaster Massimo Ciglio was also satisfied “this is an important loan, on funds that mainly concern energy efficiency and partly also for the securing. The interventions mainly concerned the roof, the attic and the windows to avoid heat dispersion and make some spaces usable, for example, in the afternoon. Other works concerned lighting and a whole series of things that are not very visible, perhaps to our eyes, but extremely important. In this way we are finally able to provide answers to the parents of our young students.”

Finally the Mayor Caruso who spoke of “the right to education of our students and the duty to guarantee them conditions of absolute health and safety within school environments, our efforts must multiply and achieve the objectives we have set ourselves”.
