PIEDMONT – Marco Allegretti, candidate of the 5 Star Movement (M5S) in the regional elections in the North-West constituencyis located in the center of ajudicial investigation for alleged violations of the code of ethics and fraud on European funds. This case, which comes just days before the vote, has shaken regional politics, raising questions about the credibility and integrity of political candidates.
The Prosecutor’s Office opened two investigation files against Allegretti, one in Turin and the other in Asti, concerning alleged research activities and tax credits relating to a scam involving European funds. The scam is suspected to have originated from sale of theses from the Polytechnic of Turin to obtain tax credits.
The accusations
The M5S candidate, already involved in previous ethical and administrative controversies, found himself in the crosshairs of justice for alleged violations of the code of ethics and suspicious activities linked to his participation in Finpiemonte, from which he had been removed for alleged irregularities.
The charges against him include the attempt to hide real estate to avoid the payment of debtsin addition to thefraudulent use of tax credits derived from alleged research projects. It is suspected that Allegretti created an intricate system for unduly obtain tax advantagesusing university theses and research projects to justify tax compensation.
