Allegretti, running to become regional councilor, is accused of a tax crime

Published on: 03/06/2024 – 18:02

TURIN Marco Allegretti, of the 5 Star Movement, has announced the withdrawal of his candidacy for regional councilor in Piedmont. The five-star politician is being investigated by the prosecutors of Asti and Turin, as the newspaper Repubblica writes. The charge is fraudulent evasion of taxes. “I am certain of the transparency of my actions”, this is how Allegretti responded to the accusations, adding that “The ethical rigor and professional seriousness that characterize me, however, push me to immediately take a step back”. The investigations would concern in particular his research activities and tax credits for a huge scam, as emerged from an audit by the Revenue Agency. Among the accusations against Allegretti is that of having attempted to hide 23 buildings in Asti and another 6 in Turin, all to avoid a collection procedure involving over two million euros in dispute.
