It will start on Wednesday 5 June summer season 2024 of theCaprilli racecourse which will take place completely at night. The racing, with the exception of the inaugural one, they will start at 8.45pm or 9.20pm depending on whether there are six or five scheduled races, so as to allow citizens to participate right from the start of the conference. It will be a varied program, with races dedicated to the three flat gallop specialties. The English thoroughbreds will have two main handicaps available, the Premio Livorno on Sunday 21 July and the 79th Coppa del Mare which this year is scheduled for Friday 16 August. On the same day another race of great tradition, the Criterium Labronico (for 2-year-old foals) and a great novelty: a Group 2 race reserved for the noble breed of Arabian Thoroughbreds. The Anglo Arabian horses will also have their Grand Prix day which will be Sunday 14th July.
“This place had been forgotten and abandoned and we managed to bring it back to life – the words of the mayor Luca Salvetti – with satisfactory seasons. Now the future of the structure depends on the tender for the twenty-year assignment which will be published in the next few days. The calendar of the races is well fed and this allows us to maintain our upward trend regarding the number of evenings. We can say that Livorno has returned to the heart of Italian horse racing”.
“It is important to give continuity to the racecourse – declares Silvio Toriello, administrator of Sistema Cavallo – and thanks to the Municipality for the collaboration for the relaunch of this place. We will participate in the tender because we have already presented a project that relaunches this structure which should not be lived in only in relation to racing but as happened in the 80s and 90s”.
As regards the assignment of the racecourse, the decision to contract was published on 30 May, an act through which it is possible to proceed with the publication of the tender, on the basis of the public-private partnership, which will take place within a short time on the Municipality website.
