On the occasion of 25 years of management of the integrated water service, which began on June 1st 1999, Nuove Acque promotes a day dedicated to the history of the city and its water system. With the collaboration of the Guido D’Arezzo Foundation, Nuove Acque has organized free and guided visits to the Medici Fortress of Arezzo on 8 June.
It will be possible to admire the remains of the city from the Roman and medieval era, discover the functioning of the capital’s water system and appreciate the investments made by Nuove Acque in these first 25 years of management.
“We chose the Fortress for its strong symbolic meaning – declared the president of Nuove Acque Carlo Polci -. An element of defense against attacks in history, an element of fundamental defense of city life today with its silent and majestic deposit of water which guarantees and supplies the whole city. Just as our predecessors thought of the “fortress”, even in the name, so the company and the Municipality have valorized this fundamental garrison of “daily normality” in the present day, inviting the citizens to essentially give it back tribute seemed like the best way to celebrate our first 25 years of history.”
The event is free and open to all citizens and each visit lasts approximately 45 minutes. Places are limited due to capacity and to allow visits to be carried out better; therefore, you need to book your visit by registering online at https://nuoveacque.it/acqua-in-fortezza/
The visit times are from approximately 9.30 am, with the meeting point at the entrance to the Medici Fortress.
