Subsequently the trend is towards greater stability, with the region finding itself in a buffer zone between the expansion of an high-pressure promontory on the central-western Mediterranean and a large area of low pressure centered on the North Sea and expanded up to the ‘Central Europe. Precipitation tends to be limited to the mountains and ventilation is predominantly weak, while temperatures are moving towards a slow and gradual rise“.
