The celebrations for the 78th anniversary of the proclamation of the Italian Republic took place yesterday, Sunday 2 June. The day began in Andria, where the Prefect, the Mayor and the local authorities participated in the solemn flag raising and laid the Crown in honor of the fallen of all wars. In the evening, however, the ceremonial phase of the joint guard of honor (Carabinieri, Italian Army, Guardia di Finanza and Navy) was held in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II in Barletta with the review of the troops by the Prefect, at presence of the local institutional authorities, the banners of the Municipalities, the banners of the fighting and weapons associations and a representation of the local Bersaglieri Association. The traditional ceremony of awarding the Honors of Merit of the Italian Republic, granted by the President of the Republic to twenty citizens of the territory, was then held inside the Curci Theater. The evening was introduced by the performance of the National Anthem by the wind orchestra of the students of the “Casardi” Music High School in Barletta, by the reading of the message from the President of the Republic by the Prefect, who then greeted the authorities present , and from the reading of an extract from Piero Calamandrei’s “Discourse on the Constitution” by the children of the Cooperativa Sociale Work Aut Lavoro e Autismo of Barletta. Among the twenty citizens of the Bat awarded the Honors of Merit of the Italian Republic, distinguished in the fields of social, voluntary work, work, arts and culture, who with this prestigious honorific award formally become the Ambassadors of the Italian Republic in this province, there is the Andriese Officer Riccardo Di Matteo (Andria), Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Puglia (in the photo with the Prefect D’Agostino and the councilor Losappio).
