The awards ceremony for the global final took place in Shenzhen, China Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024. Now in its 8th edition, this competition has marked a record of participation, with 700 students from 100 universities in 20 European Union countries. After passing rigorous national and regional selections, 9 finalist teams from 5 European countries – Italy, Spain, Turkey, Poland and Greece – represented the continent at the final stage of the competition.

The final challenge was a high-level technical competition, where the participants they had to demonstrate their ICT skills through theoretical and practical tests in the Network, Cloud and Computing categories. The European teams achieved extraordinary results, winning 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 3 third prizes, marking a historic achievement for the European continent.

  • Grand Prize: Poland, Poznań University of Technology (Network Track, Practice Competition); Türkiye, Team EdusynTech of MEF University (AI Track, Innovation Competition).
  • Second Prizes: Italy, Polytechnic University of Marche (Network Track, under the guidance of Dr. Adelmo De Santis); Italy, K Labs Academy (Cloud Track); Poland, Poznań University of Technology (Cloud Track); Greece, University of Macedonia (Innovation Track).
  • Third Prizes: Spain, University of Alicante (Network Track); Türkiye, Yalova University (Cloud Track); Türkiye, Erzurum Technical University (Computing Track).

The Grand Prize, the most prestigious prize, was awarded by Kaan Başkurt, Consul General of Turkey in Guangzhou, to the winning Turkish team in the ‘Innovation Track’ category. Their project consists of an AI-powered mobile application to identify dyslexia and provide support to children aged 6-13. The team leader thanked Huawei for the opportunity to showcase their capabilities and ideas to the world.

It was held on May 23, again in Shenzhen Huawei ICT Academy’s first global ‘Most Valuable Instructor (MVI)’ forum, where three European teachers received the ‘Global MVI Award 2024’. Among these, Dr. Adelmo De Santis of the Polytechnic University of Marche, together with teachers from Turkey and Spain.

On May 25, during the global finals, the teams visited Huawei’s campus and exhibition halls in Xi Liu Bei Po, witnessing cutting-edge technology demonstrations and learning about Huawei’s ICT best practices.

The Huawei ICT Competition, launched in 2015, has become an important communication and competition platform for students around the world, with the participation of 750,000 undergraduate students from more than 2,000 universities in more than 80 countries. The ICT Academy and ICT Competition aim to support students in improving their technological skills, promoting innovation, creativity and digital inclusion on a global scale.

This edition of the competition has underlined Huawei’s commitment to supporting young talents and innovation in the ICT fieldcelebrating the successes of European students and their contribution to global technological progress.
