They took place yesterday, Sunday 2 June 2024the celebrations for 78th anniversary of the proclamation of Italian republic.
The day has begun in Andriawhere the Prefect, the Mayor and the local authorities participated in the solemn flag raising and laid the Crown in honor of the fallen of all wars.
In the evening, however, in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II in Barletta the ceremonial phase of the joint guard of honor was held (Carabinieri, Italian Army, Guardia di Finanza and Navy) with the review of the troops by the Prefect, in the presence of the local institutional authorities, the banners of the Municipalities, the banners of the fighting and weapons associations and of a representative of the local Bersaglieri Association.
Citizens were able to admire the vehicles of the Police Forces, Armed Forces, Port Authority, Fire Brigade, Local Police, Provincial Police, Military Red Cross and Regional Civil Protection.
The traditional ceremony of awarding the Honors of Merit of the Italian Republic, granted by the President of the Republic to twenty citizens of the territory, was then held inside the Curci Theater.
The evening was introduced by the performance of the National Anthem by the wind orchestra of the students of the “Casardi” Music High School in Barletta, by the reading of the message from the President of the Republic by the Prefect, who then greeted the authorities present , and from the reading of an extract from Piero Calamandrei’s “Discourse on the Constitution” by the children of the Cooperativa Sociale Work Aut Lavoro e Autismo of Barletta.
“I am particularly proud to have celebrated my first Republic Day as Prefect of the province of Barletta Andria Trani, just two weeks after my inauguration – declared the Prefect Silvana D’Agostino -.
I wanted to promote a ceremony that was more inclusive and open to citizens: in the city streets of Barletta we organized a small parade in order to allow citizens to greet and meet, on this day of celebration, all the representatives of the State team that every day contribute to the well-being of the community.
As usual, then, we honored and celebrated the 20 citizens of this territory awarded the Honors of Merit of the Italian Republic: 20 distinguished excellences in the fields of social, volunteering, work, arts and culture, who with this prestigious honorific award formally become the Ambassadors of the Italian Republic in this province”.
