DLF Civitavecchia, DG Gianni Marcoaldi: “Excellent year for our youth teams, now let’s build the future”

Long football year, full of satisfactions and some defeats but, at the same time, culminating with the set goal of maintaining all categories. All engaged in RegionalU19 U17 U16 U15 and U14, the DLF teams brought the green and white color high onto the fields of the district.

The U19 by mister Will make in their first appearance in the category, they had been promoted from the provincials in the previous season, they finished sixth in a complicated and prestigious championship, also providing at the end that extra, and fundamental, piece for the salvation of the first team of the First Category. The U17 by mister Miglionic they saved themselves with a considerable distance from the third to last, six points, despite some difficulties during the work they firmly obtained the maintenance of the category in advance, while the U16 by mister Fusco they floated in complete tranquility in the middle of the table, finishing eighth, but they were able to gain some satisfaction at the expense of more renowned teams in the Lazio youth schedule. The U15 by mister Battellocchi they arrived fourth after having remained in the top positions for a long time, stopped only by four injuries during construction which however did not slow down the excellent work done, while the U14 by mister Giovanni’s they placed sixth in a championship dominated by the giant Boreale, twelve more in the second, and in their first experience after football school they performed well, even dreaming of something more in the ongoing championship.

WHAT YEAR WAS IT?

It was certainly a positive year for the DLF, declares Gianni Marcoaldi Director General of the green-and-white society, cWith applause from me that goes to all the coaches, staff and players who with firmness, determination and fairness have kept the name of our club high on the pitches of Lazio.”

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE TEAMS AND LET’S STARTING WITH THOSE U19s WHO “DONE” DOUBLE WORK THIS SEASON.

“The Juniors certainly did something more, exceptional and fundamental also for the first team. Mister Roberto Fara, a coach who grew up in our club and has been an active part of our movement for a decade, in possession of the UEFA B licence, was its spearhead and liaison with the First Team and I take this opportunity to thank him publicly because , as well as being an excellent coach, he is also a wonderful person and beyond what we will do next season I wanted to thank him for his work. It should not be forgotten that the boys, coming from the provincial championships amidst a thousand unknowns of a new championship, played at high levels, perhaps with the bar that could have been raised halfway through the season but between injuries and the problem of the first team, it was not possible to get out of the quagmire of the relegation zone, it was decided with the first team coach to transfer some players to get out of it and, consequently, a few points were lost along the way. Of note is the first team debut of many players and with more playing time than the others by Tosini, Schiavo, Giuli, Gentileschi and Brancaccio.”

HAVE THERE BEEN ANY PARTICULAR PROBLEMS IN THE OTHER CATEGORIES?

“Let’s say that we need to open a parenthesis before talking about the other categories, especially for the U17s. Coming from the agreement we had established with Civitavecchia Calcio, where many kids had emigrated there to maintain the Elite category, our teams suffered in terms of quality and level. Especially for the U17s because in addition to losing the kids who went to Civitavecchia, some, not approving of our policy, preferred to go to other clubs in the district because they were more competitive. Despite this, coach Daniele Miglionico did an excellent job, we saved the category as fourth to last but credit must be given to the players, the staff and the coach himself because we managed to create a cohesive and solid group that asserted itself through seriousness and correctness. During the course of the work, we went from thirteen-fourteen players at the start to sixteen-seventeen players at the end, with credit to Miglionico which is irrefutable as well as to the boys who, despite a thousand difficulties, never gave up.”

WHAT CHAMPIONSHIPS HAVE BEEN HELD FOR U16, U15 AND U14?

“Let’s start with Mr. Stefano Fusco’s U16s who maintained their initial objectives, finishing in mid-table, a good eighth place. A shame because, after some vicissitudes that occurred during the season, they saw the podium positions in which they had been standing for a long time disappear. The U15s of mister William Battellocchi, who also grew up in our club and with UEFA B, had an excellent top championship, finishing fourth after having contested promotion to the pacesetters, due to a few too many injuries which penalized us a bit. We close with the U14s of mister Mauro Di Giovanni assisted by Miglionico, who closed the season with an honorable sixth place. A group coming from the Football School and in their first experience who did more than they had to, a top championship and maintaining the category happened without too many problems.”

THE TEAMS, THE GUIDELINES, ARE BEGINNING TO BUILD NOW. WHAT PROSPECTS FOR THE FUTURE?

“We have the determination, the desire, to set up a strong youth movement capable of playing top championships, as protagonists. The squads were already competitive but now we need that extra piece to compete on an equal footing with everyone else.”
