World Environment Day, Art bonus, comics exhibition, workshops and film club: what to do in the library in Perugia

PERUGIA – New start of the week under the sign of culture and literature (and not only) with the events taking place in the municipal libraries of Perugia which from Monday 3 to Saturday 8 June offer numerous activities, including book presentations – between literature and poetry – a look at World Environment Day (5 June) and a comics exhibition at the Biblionet with the works of the participants in Marco Paino’s course. Also a public meeting on San Lorenzo Island for the presentation of the Art Bonus restoration financed by the Lions Club of Perugia Zone 9B.

Let’s start Monday 3 June at the Arconi Library in via della Rupe with the Onda libera reading group, featuring the book “A good place to stop” by Matteo Bussola.

Tuesday 4 June at 5pm “English at the library” weekly activity including songs and games for children from 3 to 6 years old by Katie Wood (native reader).

Wednesday 5 June at 5.30pm, on the occasion of World Environment Day, “A di Ambiente” readings aloud for children aged 0 to 6 with Maria Grazia De Martiis.

Thursday 6 June at 5pm presentation of the book “Those stupid heroes of the province” by Riccardo Lestini (2024, Les Flâneurs) who will discuss with Pasquale Guerra (writer and teacher).

Monday 3 June at 5pm “Princesses, princes and… everything else” readings aloud and workshop for children aged 4 to 10.

Tuesday 4 Juneor at 5.30 pm creative writing workshop with Samuele Chiovoloni. Same time for “Space over 60. Gym of the mind” meeting among books to keep the mind active organized by the library in collaboration with the Girasole educational space.

Wednesday 5 June from 4pm to 7pm “Together freely” art therapy workshop for children aged 14 to 18 with Natascia Bucarini and Barbara Ciribifera (art therapists). At 5.30 pm presentation of the book “Poetic Diptychs” by Agnese Panicale (2024, Bertoni) who will dialogue with Luca Mikolajczak (social media manager and speaker), readings by Gabriele Giovannini, Federica Giusepponi and Annarita Gigli.

Friday 7 June from 4pm to 7pm “Together freely” art therapy workshop for adults with Natascia Bucarini and Barbara Ciribifera (art therapists). At 5pm “The Pen Game” weekly meeting for children aged 5 to 10 dedicated to recreational activities.

Monday 3 June at 5.30 pm exhibition of the comics course, final exhibition of the works created by the students of the training course conducted in the library by the cartoonist Marco Paino: the participants invented characters, settings and created a narrative between images and words to transform their own stories into stories (for on this occasion registrations for the next edition of the course are open).

Tuesday 4 June at 5pm “Talk to me” conversation in English, basic level A1/A2/B1, with Federica Giammaroni.

Wednesday 5 June from 5pm to 7pm “Street music art workshop” free weekly meeting for children aged 11 to 21.

Friday 7 June at 5pm, on the occasion of World Environment Day, readings aloud from “The Troublemaker Beaver” by Nicholas Oldland and workshops for children aged 3 and up.

Saturday 8 June at 10.30 “The circle of green thumbs”, a meeting for plant enthusiasts aimed at acquiring practical knowledge and exchanging the secrets of the trade with Pianta Crossing Perugia.

Tuesday 4 June at 5.30pm “The wave is coming” reading aloud and building a tactile book with Maddalena D’Ettorre for children aged 3 to 10. Same time for the presentation of the book “The bones sing”, a poetic collection by Claudia Fofi (2024, AnimaMundi and illustrated by Laura Capanelli) who will dialogue with Nicoletta Nuzzo (poet).

Wednesday 5 June at 3.30 pm film club with Ivan Longo, protagonist of the film “A simple life” by Ann Hui. At 5.30pm presentation of the book “Samuel, Murphy and I” by Gabriella La Rovere (2023, Scatole Parlanti) who will discuss with Jacopo Mordenti (essayist and historian) and Carola Sorrentino (psychologist).

Thursday 6 June at 5pm reading group Women from the world dedicated to “L’ora di tutti” by the Italian philologist, literary critic, writer and semiologist Maria Corti. Same time for the Paths and Words reading group with readings taken from Fyodor Dostoevsky, starting with “Poor People”. At 5.30 pm presentation of the book “Radici d’Acqua. 2 The first river. From the gates of Rome to the mouth” by Aurelio Sabatino who will dialogue with Paolo Tacchini (writer and cultural guide in Berlin and Umbria).

Wednesday 5 June at 5pm at the Doctorate room on the Island of San Lorenzo, “Piccopasso redeemed. The restoration of the ms. 3064 of the Augusta Library” presentation of the Art Bonus restoration financed by the Lions Club of Perugia Zone 9B.
Greetings and introduction by Antonio Cipiciani (president of Zone 9B of District 108L Lions), speakers by Simona Cortona (internal, external and multimedia communications manager of the Municipality of Perugia) with “2014-2024, Ten years of Art Bonus Perugia”, Stefano Mastriforti ( owner of the Memorie di Carta restoration studio in Città di Castello) with “The restoration of the ms. 3064 of the Augusta Library” and Paolo Renzi (office manager of the Ancient Augusta Library Fund) with “Cipriano Piccolpasso’s gaze on sixteenth-century Umbria”.
