Many new features with important pieces from our castle majolica, one above all Gesualdo Fuina or two precious pieces of Fedele Cappelletti from Rapino and many other production centers ranging from Sicily to northern Italy passing through China and Japan.

A growing interest in ceramics has encouraged the Auction House to propose a series of in-depth meetings, the first of which will be held on Saturday 22 June from 5.30 pm, right in the auction room of the Gliubich House.

On this occasion, a catalog on will be presented for the first time as a preview Carl’Antonio Grue edited by Pierluigi Evangelista And Maria Cristina Ricciardi and some unpublished majolica by Grue will be exhibited, coming from the extraordinary ‘Matricardi collection‘.

Some of the pieces up for auction

The ancient Neapolitan factory ‘Mollica’ was founded by Giovanni Mollica, son of Pasquale, already a ceramist at the ‘Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea’ and at the ‘Giustiniani’, in 1842, in some premises in via Santa Lucia. Led by Giovanni’s sons, Ciro, Achille and Alessandro, the factory became, at the end of the nineteenth century, one of the most important in Southern Italy.

Gesualdo Fuina (Castelli, 1755-1822). Albarello depicting ‘fioraccio castellano’, 19th century. The albarello offers the classic ‘fioraccio’ with a central rose among flowers, introduced into the castle majolica by Gesualdo Fuina and created through his innovative palette, with the introduction of purple red and bright green colors on white glaze echoing the white kaolin of the porcelain . At the bottom is an empty scroll where you can cold insert any apothecary inscription. On the back it bears the client’s initials.
