TERAMO. “Teramo nursery schools: uncertainties, chaos, lack of respect for children, parents, educational staff and trade unions… again”. This is the title of a very long note signed by Mauro Pettinarosecretary of the FP Cgil Teramo, e Marco De Febiscoordinator of the FP CISL Teramo, in which we read that on the educational service for children «despite the continuous, incessant, repeated messages and outstretched arms from all the public and private staff and the writing trade union organizations, we are here to denounce again once, the umpteenth time, that the Municipality of Teramo disregards what it promised and continues to make mistakes”.
CGIL and CISL point out “at least three major issues that the municipal administration continues to evade”. The first is the closure of the “Casetta sul Fiume” nursery for work. «To avoid the decrease in the number of children and the consequent loss of jobs of educational staff, two possible solutions have emerged; that is, outsourcing one of the three directly managed public nurseries or introducing the mixed system. We unions have proposed this last option which would have seen public and private personnel cohabiting in common buildings, a solution used by many municipalities. The Municipality decides no to the mixed system (by the way… with what reasons? Reasons asked and… never given) and, consequently, in all the meetings there is talk of outsourcing. To date we know from conversations that it will be the “Girasole” nursery, located in Via Diaz, but officially there is nothing yet. The consequence? Agitation among all parents and staff constantly exposed to situations of embarrassment and helplessness.”
CGIL and CISL then point out possible errors and anomalies in the notice regarding private nursery schools. « In summary: the decision for the outsourcing of only two nursery schools and not three has been published, containing among other things completely different timetables compared to the existing one (in the case of auxiliary staff a cut of almost 50% of hours) . We immediately wrote via certified email a note addressed to Mayor D’Alberto and the councilor for public education to ask for corrections and explanations. Certified e-mail sent on Friday 24 May, with maximum urgency for the release of the resolution and the notice, and still today… no response. Do we really have to think that the Municipality of Teramo is putting jobs at risk due to neglect and incompetence?”.
Third issue, the very high temperatures recorded in nursery schools in recent summers. «Six months ago», write CGIL and CISL, «we informed the Municipality of Teramo that for the summer period of 2024 a reconnaissance within the structures would be necessary in order to then proceed with the works necessary to have adequate microclimates. In the minutes of the meeting between us unions and the Municipality, the administration’s commitment to fix the situation and act in a “preventive” manner by May 31st was put in black and white. To date nothing has been done. What will happen when the scorching heat of past summers returns?(red.te)
