The Lombardy Region has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm risk from 2.00 pm on 02.06.2024 to 06.00 am on 03.06.2024
In the second part of the day on 02/06, unstable conditions are expected in the region, determined by the transit of a trough with associated colder air at high altitude. Precipitation is expected from the early afternoon hours in the pre-Alpine area and the Apennines, before extending and intensifying in the plains by mid-afternoon. The phenomena are expected to progressively attenuate in the late evening. In all sectors the rainfall may take on a thunderstorm character, but with a low probability of strong intensity phenomena, although locally, especially on the plains, possible accumulations of between 20 and 40 mm may occur. Generally weak ventilation is expected, locally strengthened in coinciding with the most intense storm events. For the day of 03/06, scattered showers and thunderstorms will still be possible during the night, with greater probability on the central-eastern lowland belt. In the morning, gradual attenuation of convective phenomena while during the afternoon, activation of new storm nuclei located mainly in the central-eastern pre-Alpine mountains. Generally weak ventilation is expected in the plains, while in the mountains strengthening winds from the north on the border reliefs of Valchiavenna.
