MODICA – From 1 July urban public transport in Modica will be managed by Sais, which already operates in Syracuse, Enna and Milazzo. The AST wanted to withdraw already last March, but thanks to the warnings from the local police command, which followed the entire handover process step by step, no interruption of public service to the detriment of users occurred. The local police are responsible for managing and controlling the service, under the direction of councilor Antonio Drago. Sais will ensure the urban lines for the next two years with a direct assignment permitted by law, given the urgency of not interrupting a public service. The sum allocated is 1,528,547.13 euros, largely financed, as has always been the case with the Ast, by the Sicilian Region.

In the new urban transport service there is a very strong component of technological innovation, with a support app, with an artificial intelligence system that will also give some advice on what to do in the city. All buses are new generation and accessible with a platform for people with disabilities. Another important innovation is given by the presence of management software for data analysis which will allow us to understand in real time which line works, which not and how to intervene not only to improve that line itself, but also to add a new one. other. The project includes lines that will connect the hamlets of Marina di Modica and Maganuco to the city. The cost of the ticket will remain unchanged, therefore it will be 1.20 euros per ride.
