Today is Republic Day. To celebrate the 78th anniversary of the birth of the Republic,
the Prefect of Salerno, Francesco Esposito, has organized a ceremony to be held at 9.30 am, in
Piazza Amendola. At the center of the celebrations will be the students of the schools of the city of Salerno who
participated in the project, promoted by the Prefecture of Salerno, “Let’s live there
Constitution”. A series of meetings with school students were organized during the year
secondary schools, during which articles and principles were explored in depth
of our Constitution as part of an open dialogue between the children and the Prefect.
The students of the “Sabatini Menna” artistic high school in Salerno, accompanied by the principal Renata
Florimonte, will stage a flash mob on the Italian tricolor; the students of the institute
professional state hotelier “Roberto Virtuoso” of Salerno, accompanied by the principal
Ornella Pellegrino, interpreting our founding fathers, will revive the debate held in
within the work of the Constituent Assembly on articles 1, 3 and 9; classical high school students
and state scientific “Francesco De Sanctis” of Salerno, accompanied by the principal Cinzia
Lucia Guida, will exhibit and illustrate the panels, created by the children, which they depict
some articles of our Constitution. Young students will also participate
of the “Rita Levi–Montalcini” State Comprehensive Institute of Salerno, accompanied by the principal Angela Di Donato,
with a piece dedicated to the Constitution, written by them. The event will be enlivened by the presence of the wind orchestra of the “Teresa Confalonieri” Institute of Higher Education in Campagna, directed by maestro Luciano Marchetta.
The celebrations will continue at 11.00 at the “Teatro Verdi” in Salerno, where the
Prefect will deliver the honors “to the merit of the Italian Republic”, granted by
President of the Republic to citizens of this province. The Gibboni family will perform for the occasion.
Some instruments of historical and artistic prestige will play: Annastella with a Paolo De Barbieri violin Genoa 1942;
Donatella with a violin Niccolò Amati Cremona 1645; Giuseppe with an Antonio Stradivari Jupiter violin
Cremona 1722.
