In a recent operation conducted by the Carabinieri Station of Palermo Center, with the support of the Municipal Police, a 25-year-old man, already known to the police, was arrested for possession and dealing of narcotics.

The intervention took place in the Cassaro district, during routine checks on the commercial regularity of public places, particularly focused on the provision of food and drinks.

The 25-year-old was caught while packaging approximately 40 doses of cocaine inside the kitchen of a restaurant, apparently closed, located in the heart of the neighborhood.

Following the intervention, the young man was placed under house arrest by order of the Public Prosecutor, pending the validation hearing, while the seized cocaine was sent to the Narcotics Analysis Laboratory of the Provincial Command of Palermo for qualitative and weight tests.

The arrest was subsequently validated by the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Court of Palermo, confirming the effectiveness and legality of the proceedings.

In addition to the arrest for drug dealing, the operation led to the closure of two other public establishments in via dei Cassari, managed by a 37-year-old, also known to the police. The man was reported for various irregularities, including illegal occupation of public land and the lack of hygiene and health requirements and the necessary health SCIA.

The two premises were placed under administrative seizure, as they were located in an area subject to specific legislative provisions for the protection of cultural and environmental assets.

During the operation, administrative fines totaling approximately 33,000 euros were also imposed, highlighting a significant commitment by law enforcement in maintaining order and legality, especially in areas of particular historical and artistic interest.

The intervention therefore has an impact not only on local crime, but also on the conservation of the city’s cultural heritage.
