We have reached the last act of the Palio di Legnano 2024, the Translation of the Cross from the Basilica of Piazza San Magno to Church of the Holy Redeemer from the Legnarello districtwinner of the Palio for the second consecutive year.

Translation of the Cross to the Legnarello district 4 of 23
During the ceremony, which took place on Saturday 1 June, the Giallorossi district, in addition to taking custody of the Cross of Ariberto da Intimiano for another year, received the Weight: a 1176 gram sculpture called “Civitas” which summarizes the spirit and essence of the historical event in Legnano combined with the celebration for the Centenary of the city, with the representation in it of the eight districts combined with an eight-pointed crown with the coats of arms of each district inside. Historically the Peso was created by an established artist but this year it was decided to involve four students from the Brera Academy.
To deliver the Peso 2024 in the hands of the grand prior of the Legnarello district Alessandro Mengoli he was the supreme magistrate and mayor of the city Lorenzo Radicein the presence of the grand master of the College of captains and districts Raffaele Bonitoof the knight of the Northern League Andrea Monaciof the president of Famiglia Legnanese Gianfranco Bononi and the monsignors Angelo Cairati.
At the end of the celebration in Piazza San Magno, the procession of the Giallorossi it crossed Corso Garibaldi, Via Crispi, Via Barlocco, Corso Sempione and Via Dante until arriving at the Church of the Holy Redentore. Together with the regency and the celebrating contrada people too the jockey Antonio Siri who led the Giallorossi to victory and the parish priest of the district Don Stefano Valsecchi. The Cross of Ariberto da Intimiano will remain in the custody of the winning district until the issuing of the official notice for the participation of the districts in the Palio 2025, when it will be returned to the Basilica San Magno.
