Celebrations for the 78th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic will take place on Sunday 2 June. At 9.30 in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the prefect Massimo Mariani will lay a commemorative wreath at the War Memorial; at 10.30 at the Politeama Theatre, in the presence of the local civil and military authorities, the award ceremony of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and other important recognitions will be held.

During the event, there will also be an award ceremony for the winning schools of the competition called “Freedom of the Press and Culture of Legality”, reserved for educational institutions of all levels, organized by the Prefecture, in collaboration with the Regional School Office, the ‘Order of Journalists of Sicily and the Sicilian Press Association. The ceremony will be enriched by the performance of the Mameli anthem by the fanfare of the XII Sicily Carabinieri Regiment, by the musical contribution of the students of the Conservatory and by the artistic performance of the students of the dance high school of the Regina Margherita state teaching institute.

  • Grazia Crescimanno, surgeon-researcher;
  • Calcedonio Di Pasquale, non-commissioned officer of the Carabinieri;

Honor for victim of terrorism
