Great anticipation tomorrow, Sunday 2 June, at Guidonia Montecelio for the “San Luigi Marathon”the now traditional sporting event organized by the association of the same name chaired by Paolo Terrone and dedicated to the memory of Gianni D’Angelillia runner friend of the organizers who recently passed away.
The event boasts the patronage of the Municipality of Guidonia Montecelio and is sponsored by Buzzi Unicem cement factory and numerous commercial and entrepreneurial activities in the City of Air.
The aim is to bring joy to the city and celebrate the value of sport, but above all to make a gesture of solidarity towards deserving associations.
As in the other previous editions, there are one 10.1 kilometer competitive run it’s a charity walk over a 5 kilometer route.
At the moment they are approx 300 runners registered to competitive running and about 250 amateurs to the walk.
The gathering of the athletes is expected tomorrow morning at 8 in front of the cement factory Buzzi Unicem, where it will still be possible to make new ones registrations.
The departure is at 9 am from the factory square on a route approximately 2 kilometers long Avenue of the Union And viale Roma. The big novelty of the eleventh edition of the “San Luigi Marathon” is represented by the fact that this time the athletes will also run inside the “Alfredo Barbieri” military airport along a 5 kilometer route through the runways.
The route includes the next step in Piazza Giacomo Matteottiheadquarters of the Municipality of Guidonia Montecelio, and the arrival at the cement plants for the awards.
The other big one novelty of the eleventh edition is the inclusion of the competitive race in “Circuit Run”a circuit of stage running races, with final prize-giving for the participants.
The “San Luigi Marathon” is the first of six stagesbetween May and December 2024, at the end of which various rankings will be drawn up divided into Absolute M/F, Category M/F and Company.
The “San Luigi Marathon” is one charitable initiative the proceeds of which, net of expenses, will be donated to Family Home “Casetta Lauretana-Il Sogno Onlus” it’s at “Bricks of Joy”an association specialized in social and health interventions.
All participating children will be given a souvenir medal. The first 100 registered participants will receive a t-shirt, water and gadgets when they collect their bib.
Registrations
All athletes resident in Italy registered for the current year with FIDAL or with Sports Promotion Bodies recognized by CONI or non-registered athletes holding the RunCard who, as of 1 June 2024, can participate in the competitive running race. have reached the age of 18 and are in compliance with the rules governing health protection for the practice of competitive sports (DM 18-2-1982).
Single registrations from FIDAL registered athletes will not be accepted unless the replacement slip of the FIDAL card provided by the sports clubs to which they belong is also attached, certifying membership for the year 2024 or, alternatively, the declaration with the president’s signature at the bottom the regularity of the athlete’s membership on the company’s headed paper.
It is not possible to participate with just a sports medical certificate or other forms of self-declaration.
Participation in the non-competitive walk is open to all.
A refreshment package is guaranteed for the first 400 members.

The cost of registering for the running race is €14 for registrations received by midnight on 1 June 2024; payment will be made at the same time as the bib is collected.
It will be possible to register on the morning of the race up to 1 hour before the start at a cost of €16.
Participation in the non-competitive walk costs €5; it will be possible to register on the morning of the event.
Registrations are open until 8.30 am tomorrow morning 2 June.
The “San Luigi Marathon” was born from the experience of “Cement Works Race” organized by Unicem in the 80s, then revived in the 90s on the occasion of the neighborhood party on the occasion of 21 June, St. Louis’ day.
“The objectives we set ourselves from the beginning – explains the president of the association of the same name “Maratonina di San Luigi”, Paolo Terrone – were to organize an event that would allow us to play sports in our city, was open to registered amateur runners who commonly run races but which left room for non-competitive people, walkers, children who could walk the city streets without danger and which gave visibility that Guidonia deserves.
But the main objective was to involve participants to raise funds for charities to promote projects.
We dedicated this event to a dear runner friend who left us and who always had particular attention and sensitivity for those in need”.
