The next regional elections in Calabriaalthough still two and a half years away, are still there already animating the political debate on potential applications. Among the most discussed names stands out that of Flavio Stasi, mayor of Corigliano Rossano, who seems to attract attention as a possible candidate for the presidency of the Region. Stasi has repeatedly stated that he is not interested to the regional elections if he were to be reconfirmed as mayor. Franco Iacucci spoke on the topicvice-president of the Regional Council of Calabria and member of the Democratic Party, who toned down any reference to the regional elections, underlining that it’s still early to talk about it.

However, the current mayor of Corigliano Rossano is very much anchored to civility, far from party structures even if he has always declared himself to be a man of the left. Iacucci observes: «We are convinced that we need civility, but together with civility we need strong and representative political partieswhich can guarantee a broader and more breathing perspective.”

When asked whether Stasi should join the party for a candidacy, Iacucci replies: «No, I’m not saying that. Stasi knows what he will have to do, but now talk about candidates for the presidency of the Region it’s premature. The first objective is to build a broad alliance. If Stasi decides to take the field, his candidacy will also be announced, of course.”
