He is considered the suspect instigator of the murder of man, who abused the
15 year old daughter. This is the accusation made by prosecutor Stefania Bianco
Lucio Iorillo, 64 years old, former worker of the Taburno Mountain Community,
father of the girl who took her own life on January 6, 2008 and
investigated by the Benevento Prosecutor’s Office for the murder of Joseph
Matarazzo. Defended by lawyers Raimondo Salvo and Renato Jappelli, Iorillo will have to appear on November 27 before the Gup Loredana Camerlengo, who will have to evaluate his indictment.
The ambush
Matarazzo, it was killed with two gunshots outside his
home in July 2018, just a month after returning home
freedom after serving a sentence of 11 years and 6 months for abusing one
15 year old, who later committed suicide. Prosecutor Bianco’s request for Iorillo represents a new development of the Carabinieri investigation into the murder of the 45-year-old pastor, on which the Supreme Court annulled the sentence of the Court of Appeal of Naples, issued on 14 March 2023, with which they were acquitted, for not having
committed the crime, Giuseppe Massaro (defended by lawyers Angelo Leone and Mario Palmieri), 59 years old, from Sant’Agata dei Goti, and Generous Nasta (lawyers
Orlando Sgambati and Angelo Raucci), 34 years old, from San Felice a Cancello
believed to be the alleged killers of the Samnite shepherd.
The money paid
A sentence, the second degree one which had literally overturned,
that of the Court of Assizes of Benevento which, on 6 October 2021, had
sentenced the two defendants to life imprisonment. Massaro is accused of having
provided the legally held 357 Magnum with which he would be killed
the shepherd and the car, which Nasta would then drive. A reconstruction to
which, according to the investigators, it was added a new piece.
According to the Samnite prosecutor’s office, Iorillo was the promoter of the crime,
that he would organize behind the payment of the sum of 20 thousand euros,
partly paid, to Massaro and Nasta. Not only that, the 64-year-old would have
created an alibi to ward off any suspicion. On the evening in which Matarazzo was killed, the man would have met several people precisely so as not to arouse suspicion.
The mother
The murder, for which Iorillo is now under investigation, occurred on July 19th
2018 at via Bocca in the Selva district, after a month that Giuseppe
Matarazzo was back in the country having served (starting from 2011) one
11 year sentence for the violence against the minor girl, who then took her own life. That evening of July 19th to witness the murder of Giuseppe Matarazzo it was the motheramong the few to provide a vague description of that car with two men on board from which they had left the gunshotswhich had reached the son, the heart and chest as well as
emerged from the autopsy performed by the medical examiner Emilio D’Oro.
The testimonies
In recent years they have been listen to dozens of peopleby the carabinieri to reconstruct the various phases of the crime, including both the members of the Matarazzo family and Iorillo and many neighbors of the victim. Now, however, with a new appeal trial for the two alleged killers and the request for trial for Iorrillo, the judicial epilogue of this dark and tragic story still seems far away.
