The final evening of the 27th edition of the poetry competition for boys of the “CALENDIMAGGIO” and of the 8th prose competition “A STORY FOR YOU”, dedicated to the memory of Prof. Valdo Nadir Pernumian, President of the examining jury for 19 editions.

The event took place in a very “sober” manner and, once again, the primary objective of Calendimaggio emerged, namely that of encouraging children to write, bringing to light their most hidden emotions and feelings.

As per tradition, the principals and teachers of the institutes where the competing children study took turns awarding the winners, who enthusiastically took part in and publicized the event. Present in the room were the Councilor of the Municipality of Arese Paola Pandolfi and that of the Municipality of Rho Valentina Giro. The competition was born from an idea within the “Amici di Mazzo Cultural Group” and is organized by “AGCAM” itself in collaboration with the Municipal Libraries of Rho and Arese, the “Angela Piras” Children’s Library of Mazzo di Rho and the municipal administrations of Rho and Arese. The “sponsors” also contributed to the creation of this edition, namely MONDADORI STORE of Arese and NUOVENERGIE; ASER instead offered a “Liberal Contribution” to the event. Participation is reserved for middle and high schools (two and three years) for poetry and for the five high school classes for prose, for the institutes of Rho and Arese. For this edition, the jury (composed of: Maria Grazia Cislaghi, Alice Serrao, Piero Airaghi, Adriano Molteni, Mattia Pedota and Leo Caenazzo) was asked to evaluate approximately 300 works in total (poems+stories), presented by more than 200 students .

An exciting evening, which began with an engaging introductory show created by the award-winning children, under the direction of Andrea Pirrera and Rebecca Ruggeri (who also participated and won the poetry competition a few years ago), with the collaboration of Claudio Boarolo for the filming video. For the record, the winners for poetry were: for the Lower Middle School Giorgia Segat (Istituto Paolo VI of Rho, with the poem “Prisoners”), for the Two-year High School Lorenzo Del Duca (ITISS Cannizzaro of Rho, with the poem “La vita”), for the three-year high school class Sofia Borsani Sogni (Liceo Sc. Falcone e Borsellino of Arese, with the poem “Umanità Vaga”), while for what concerns prose the victory smiled at Gaia Crippa (Liceo Sc . E. Majorana of Rho, with the work “Fumo”). It always comes to mind and today more than ever, in this multimedia and hyper-technological world, with a disturbing “Artificial Intelligence” that would like to replace (with what result is still to be evaluated…) human intellect and reason, the old , dear, but always current adage: “…the pen has more power than the sword…”. In this case, the power of the pen and the “genius” of our enterprising and talented guys!!! As is customary, all the texts were published in a collection which, at the end of the evening, was given to the students and representatives of each Institute, as an enrichment of the school library, and to the public present in the room, as a tangible gesture of commitment made by all the boys and girls in recent months.

See you all at the next edition!
