Good fifth place for Perugia in the boy league

The eight-man final of the boy league championship for the very young players of Sir Susa Vim Perugia ended with a splendid fifth place finish. In the competition reserved for athletes in the under 14 men’s category organized by the Serie A Volleyball League and reserved for the youth sectors of the major clubs, the small block-devils play great in the presence of some of the best youth expressions at a national level. After having won one of the eight places for the event in the preliminary phase last April, the Bianconeri finished in third place in the group which also included Modena, Brugherio and Padova. Debut with victory against Modena by two to one (25-21, 25-18, 19-25). Defeat in the second match against Brugherio by two to one (15-25, 25-16, 17-25). Defeated in the decisive match against Padova two to one (26-28, 25-27, 9-25). Third place in the group allows them to face Ravenna for fifth place, resulting in a two to one victory (23-25, 25-20, 15-7). The technician’s comment Andrea Moscioni: «I think the boys showed some good things in the qualifying round. I’m talking about both the victory against Modena and the match against Brugherio despite the defeat because we provided a good performance against a very high level opponent. In the decisive match against Padova we lost the first two sets with the advantages and therefore we lacked something, even if very little, to enter the top four. But the boys didn’t lose heart and this morning another good match and another good victory came against Ravenna for fifth place. Regardless of the result, it was an absolutely positive experience for the kids who acquired a lot of awareness of their potential. We met with some of the most important youth sectors in Italy and I think we well represented on the pitch what we try to do with our young people every day in the gym. We are all very happy, a fifth place nationally is a prestigious result for which, if we even have some small regrets today, we would have signed before leaving.” This is the squad: Jacopo Bertoia, Lorenzo Buompadre, Lorenzo Covarelli, Luca Dornescu, Tommaso Evangelisti, Stefano Fabbri, Alessio Galiano, Milos Grbic, Bernardo Mancinelli, Giulio Ndongomo Nangfack, Pietro Pellegrini, Mario Perticoni, Giorgio Tamagnini, Lorenzo Valocchia.
