Sondrio for children, Gorizia for young people and Trento for the elderly. It is these three Italian provinces that guarantee a better quality of life for their respective age groups.

The survey on the quality of life of children, young people and the elderly, now in its fourth edition, was presented as a preview today at the Trento Economics Festival.

The full results will be published in the Sole 24 Ore on Monday 27 May: the rankings – each of which is based on 12 indicators – measure the “responses” of the territories. All three indices will converge at the end of the year in the 35th edition of the Sole 24 Ore Quality of Life survey.

The Children’s Quality of Life index rewards Sondrio, thanks to high rankings in the indicators that show inadequate numerical and alphabetic competence – which is reduced in Sondrio – and in the Sport and Children index. Ravenna and Trieste are also on the podium, followed closely by Gorizia. What guarantees greater well-being for young people, however, is Gorizia – which is just below the podium also in the quality of life of children – followed by Ravenna, winner in 2023, and Forlì Cesena. The top 10 of this index continues to be covered by the Emilia Romagna provinces – Ferrara and Piacenza are added to those mentioned – which, just as in previous editions, confirm generally positive performances. Trento maintains first place in the quality of life index for the elderly.
