Zaist is all about “Zona 30”: “We want a neighborhood of people, not cars”

The path desired by the municipal administration to reduce speed in some areas of the city where residential areas and busy roads coexist continues. In the Zaist district, the new zone 30 has come into force which affects all streets, further lowering the previous limit of 50 km/h.

Giulio Ferrari, president of the Zaist district

“Establishing zone 30 – explains the president of the Quartiere Giulio Ferrari – was an objective strongly desired by the Board with the aim of increasing the safety of pedestrians and cyclists in a residential context characterized by numerous pedestrian crossings and strongly experienced by people as is the Zaist district.

The establishment of the new 30 km/h limit was preceded by interventions to reorganize the road system (in front of the Oratory and in front of the bar/pizzeria, the latter already designed and soon to be built) with the aim of making the pedestrian paths safe, increasing the number of bicycle racks and to combat illegal parking. Zone 30 is not just a number on a sign but is intended to be a way of understanding the use of public spaces, we want a neighborhood of people and not of cars and I am convinced that this objective can only be achieved by going more slowly.
Zone 30 combined with the road works already carried out and those to be carried out soon will allow us to achieve an increasingly liveable and safe urban context”.

“Thanks to the traffic sector technicians and councilor Pasquali with whom we designed these interventions, an experimental phase is now underway at the end of which it will be evaluated whether to carry out physical interventions to reduce the speed of those already present.
