The ProModica cultural association with the patronage of the Municipality of Modica held a ceremony yesterday morning at the war memorial in Piazza Principe di Napoli, during which two information panels were installed regarding the history of the monument itself and the fallen of the Great War.

The objective of the initiative was to give the opportunity to make known the history of the monument, inaugurated in July 1925, and its author, the Sicilian Luciano Condorelli, who created several monuments. In fact, in the municipality of Grammichele there is a twin copy to the Modican one.

Being the monument of our city-stated the president Fabio Lorefice-the only one in the province not to include the names of the fallen of the First World War, the ProModica association, in collaboration with the researcher Fabrizio Corso, wanted to have the two panels created to insert a QR Code that connects to the website www.cadutimodicani. it (created by Fabrizio), where all the data of the 810 soldiers who sacrificed their young lives for their homeland are reported“.

The following took part in the ceremony: Mayor Maria Monisteri, the local police forces, professor Giancarlo Poidomani, maestro Gianni Amore and Grazia Donzella and representatives of the associations Museo della Memoria Sicilia 1943 and Lamba Doria Ragusa-Siracusa group.
