Benetton Rugby wins the 2023/2024 U18 championship by beating Rugby Experience L’Aquila in Calvisano with a result of 28-17. In a hard-fought match, played at a high pace with very tough clashes for all eighty minutes, the Venetians brought the scudetto back to Treviso after the final lost two years ago against Colorno.
Applause also goes to the splendid season of the Rugby Experience L’Aquila and to the growth project undertaken with the youth sector in recent years.

In the first half, the L’Aquila team took the lead. In the 5th minute the Abruzzo team formed an advancing drive after a throw-in, the maul was unstoppable and the hooker Gioia smashed in the goal. Scaramazza doesn’t convert and the partial result is 0-5.
The green-and-whites reacted by entering the opponents’ 22, maintaining possession of the oval for a long time and allowing Dalla Riva to score the try on the right side of the field in the 12th minute. Fasti converts the kick and it’s 7-5 for Treviso. The game was pleasantly played at a fast pace, and in the 20th minute Benetton doubled their lead with Bottacin who smashed in a goal after an excellent advancing drive. 14-5 after Fasti’s conversion.
L’Aquila doesn’t stand by and responds with Copersino’s try, which is followed by Scaramazza’s transformation, but the match is so lively that the Lions close the first half by scoring again with Ndoumbe. At halftime 21-12 for the Venetians.
In the second half the intensity of the game does not decrease, both teams battle it out without sparing each other. In the 12th minute Copersino scores the try, bringing the L’Aquila team back close in score, 21-17. The last 15 minutes of the match are full of tension, the defenses are often stressed and the physical intensity is increasingly high. L’Aquila looks for points to overcome Treviso who resists and responds blow for blow.
In the final minute, thanks to a closed scrum in the area of the Abruzzo 22, Bottacin scored his personal brace, deciding the final result of 28-17 and allowing Benetton to celebrate the tricolor in the championship.
