L’Aquila: the Frecce Tricolori Air Show cancelled

Following the tragic accident that cost the life of the 118 pilot at Preturo airport, the Municipality of L’Aquila cancels the Frecce Tricolori Air Show

The event was initially only suspended. The mayor of L’Aquila, Pierluigi Biondi, communicated the definitive cancellation after the inspection at the Parchi Airport where the pilot of the Avincis company, entrusted with the helicopter rescue service in Abruzzo, was fatally hit.

“With pain in our hearts for this new tragedy that struck the 118 operators, together with the organizers of the event and together with the managing director Livio Vittorini, who had followed the entire organizational phase, we shared the need to cancel the Air events Shows scheduled for today and tomorrow.

Out of respect for this person’s wife and children, the choice to cancel the demonstration is the right one that could have been made. I informed the prefect that he will coordinate an operational meeting in the afternoon. I also spoke with him to understand how to manage the tens of thousands of people who were expected for the exhibition of the tricolor arrows and who could arrive in significant numbers in the city of L’Aquila this weekend”.
