Equipped with services or totally unequipped, along the Rimini coast there are various free beach spaces available to tourists or citizens. Accessible to all, the free beaches can be enjoyed from dawn until after sunset: access is in fact prohibited only from 1am to 5am. Even for this bathing season officially starting today, the usual rules are in force which allow full liveability of the beach to guarantee all bathers: the regulations in fact concern the impossibility for bathers to camp and the obligation to remove umbrellas, sunbeds and other equipment whenever you leave the beach.

The largest free beach is that of Piazzale Boscovich, the southern side of the Porto Canale, a point of reference and heart for many Rimini residents and tourists. A beach destined to be even more welcoming, accessible and barrier-free thanks to the regional project ‘SpiaggiaLiberaTutti’, promoted by the Municipality of Rimini to meet the needs of all users, including those with different types of disabilities (psychic, sensory, motor) and thinking about the different age groups.

The area involved in the first lot of works is the one close to the seafront next to the former Dolphinarium and the interventions will be carried out in these weeks, based on the timescales foreseen by the regional funding, always maintaining the entrance to the beach fully accessible and in in a way that is compatible with the presence and activities of users. In this first phase, eight gazebos/umbrellas and three gazebos for activities will be built, as well as a building intended for bathroom and shower. Structures harmonized with the surrounding beach, where users will be able to continue to freely position their sunbeds, umbrellas or towels as always. There is also an equipped space aimed at the most sensitive users, to allow those who need it a quiet ‘break’ from the day on the beach. A natural stone flooring of different colors will also be created, with the tiles acting as intuitive way finding and therefore creating paths for the different functions.

In addition to that of Piazzale Boscovich, the other large free beaches are those found near the Thalassoterapico in Miramare (from the border with Bagno 150 to the Riminiterme establishment), also equipped with services and the beach in the Marano area, on the border with the Municipality of Riccione. In these three stretches of free beach the lifeguard service will become operational starting from Saturday 1st June.

The other free equipped beach is present in San Giuliano Mare (Darsena area), while smaller free-use beach strips are distributed between the north and south of the Rimini coast, from Torre Pedrera to Miramare. These beaches are also covered by the lifeguard service, in collaboration with the cooperatives that cover the service in the establishments.
