Sofia Stefani killed in Anzola by Giampiero Gualandi, the reconstruction of the murder: “He was exasperated”

No accidentswhen Giampiero Gualandi he locked himself in the room with Sofia Stefani era “exasperated” and had “murder already in mind“. It is the reconstruction made of the investigating judge from Bologna, Domenico Truppa, in deciding on prison for the 62-year-old former policeman, accused of killing his 33-year-old colleague at the command of the local police in Anzola, in the Bologna area. According to what the judge claimed, the messages between the two in the days preceding the crime demonstrate how Gualandi was “in reality, a person worn out by the presence in his life” of the victim, who did not want to end the relationship.

Prison for Gualandi

Judge Truppa accepted the request for precautionary custody for Gualandi made by prosecutor Stefano Dambruso, highlighting “a marked social danger” and the risk of repeating the crime by the man who allegedly voluntarily shot his colleague: for the investigating judge, in fact, it would not have been an accident at all as claimed by the suspect in the interrogation.

“The use of the weapon against a subject who was unarmed expresses a particular lack of control and of awareness of the absolute incongruity of one’s conduct”, wrote the judge in the order reported by Handle.

“The disturbing methods of execution of the criminal action – we read again – carried out by Gualandi (which denote uncommon coldness and disarming ease of resorting to the use of a weapon with lethal effect) leave no doubt about the existence of the concrete and current danger of reiteration of facts similar to those we are proceeding with.”

The reconstruction of Anzola’s murder

From what emerged from the investigating judge’s reconstruction, on May 16th Gualandi picked up the gun from the armory and recovered the cleaning box, later found on the desk, to prepare a line of defense on the reason for the presence of the weapon, i.e. maintenance and cleaning.

The former police commander of Anzola therefore knew that Stefani would arrive at the office and, at the height of the discussion, would kill her, and then stage the frame-up of the shot fired by mistakealerting 118 and simulating the “tragic fatality”.

The messages between Sofia Stefani and Giampiero Gualandi

Again according to the hypothesis of the investigating judge, the intentions of the former policeman would also emerge from the chat between the two in the days preceding the crime: if the answers of the former policeman had been eliminated, Gualandi’s messages to Stefani were acquired in the police papers investigation and, according to the judge, they would be “unequivocal“.

“I don’t sleep, I eat little, I’m exhausted,” Gualandi wrote to the victim on May 14. “I no longer have the energy to bear the pressure, anxiety, nervousness, tension..” he reads in one message reported by Handle“I’m exhausted, I’m leaving without saying anything to anyone, I can’t stand anything anymore” is the text of another

A state of mind which for the investigating judge “appears perfectly in tune with the harassment and pressure” on her part who did not intend to end the relationship and this demonstrates “that state of exasperation in which he probably found himself managing Gualandi knowing full well of Stefani’s visit.”

And it is “with this very strong tension” that the meeting in the office must be reconstructed, on the day in which there were fifteen phone calls from Stefani to Gualandi. For the judge, this tension would have resulted in the discussion of May 16, “in which it is reasonable to believe that the man grabbed the gun and pulled the trigger to definitively settle accounts with a person who had been incessantly obsessing him for a few months.”
