The international assembly of the Pope John XXIII Community will be held this weekend in Cesena. The appointment is for Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May at the Cesena fair. Thousands of people are expected from the 42 countries of the world where the association is present. On Saturday afternoon at 6pm the Holy Mass will be held which will be celebrated by the Bishop of Rimini, Msgr. Nicolò Anselmi.
«We are excited because finally, after the pandemic and the flood last year in Romagna which affected many of our structures, we return to the usual Papa Giovanni gathering in which families, family homes, therapeutic communities and all the realities of the people of Don Benzi will meet. In a few months the celebrations for the centenary of the birth of our founder, the Servant of God Don Oreste Benzi, will begin. We continue our tireless work for peace both with all our reception organizations in the poorest places in the world and with the Operation Colomba volunteers who live in war zones. To this end we have just published a book which explains the proposal to establish a Ministry of Peace” explains Matteo Fadda, president of Papa Giovanni.
The Pope John XXIII Community has been working in the vast world of marginalization and poverty since 1968. It lives as a single spiritual family made up of people of different ages and states of life who are committed to directly sharing life with the least. The Community has created 488 family homes and facilities around the world, diversifying the reception methods based on the needs of the poor it encounters. The association today welcomes 4,260 people in Italy and around the world. From the charism of the Community, 35 legal entities were born in the world, including: 15 Social Cooperatives united in the “Consortium Share Pope John XXIII”; numerous work centers and commercial activities such as a publisher, hotels and ice cream parlors; the NGO “Sharing among people”, which manages development projects abroad.
