Sunday 26 May 2024, also in Venetois celebrated National Day of the Italian Historic Houses Association. A selection of villas and palaces will open their doors completely freely and free of charge to welcome those who want to spend a Sunday immersed in unique places of the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of our territory.
“The historic homes – he explains Giulio Gidoni, president of Adsi Veneto – are not only a tourist heritage of rare beauty, but also the cornerstone of a circular economy for the villages and cities in which they are located. In fact, 54% of these properties are located in small municipalities with a population of less than 20 thousand inhabitants and, in 29% of cases, even less than 5,000 residents. The Day of Historic Houses shines a spotlight on this set of villas, palaces and gardens, which is the largest widespread museum not only in Veneto, but in all of Italy”.

National day of historic homes in Veneto
This year the protagonists of the ADSI Day will be 56 Residences open free of charge on Sunday 26 May 2024, the State Archives were also involved and organized some special views in the days before the day.
In the provinces of Belluno, Padua and Verona, schools were also protagonists. Specifically in the Belluno area, the visits will be conducted by students from the Giorgio Dal Piaz High School in Feltre (BL), the Giustina Renier Institute and the Tomaso Catullo Institute in Belluno. In Padua the visits were conducted by students from the NIEVO, Tito Livio and Pier Fortunato Calvi technical institutes. In Verona guides with the students of the Bertoni Apostolic school – “alle Stimate” Institute and the state Academy of Fine Arts.
“The ADSI Day represents a unique opportunity to raise awareness among civil society and institutions on the role that historic homes play for the socio-economic fabric of the country, as well as to rediscover the beauties of Veneto and beyond – underlines the President again Gidoni – For the care and enhancement of these homes we increasingly need professionals who appear increasingly difficult to find and train: these are specialized artisans, restorers and gardeners. The valorisation of this heritage is an opportunity for the younger generations.”
The ADSI day, now in its fourteenth edition, is organized in collaboration with the National Association of Memory Houses, the Italian Federation of Friends of Museums (FIDAM) and Federmatrimoni ed Eventi Privati (Federmep) and has received the patronage of the Region of Veneto, IRVV Istituto Regionale Ville Venete, ENIT – National Tourism Agency and the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture.
