Lamezia, private nursery school celebrates legality day: children and the Biodiversity Carabinieri plant a tree in the park

Lamezia Teme – On May 23rd, “Legality Day” is celebrated throughout Italy, to commemorate all the victims of the mafia and those who fought for legality and who fight every day to affirm the values of justice. Even the private nursery school La Sirenetta 3.0 of Lamezia, thanks to the director Teresa Martello and all the teachers, wanted to celebrate this important day together with the little students. “Both children from the nursery and nursery school were involved – they inform in a note – and were enthusiastic about participating in this important project and working hard to make it happen.” The mayor of Lamezia Paolo Mascaro, Marshal Marongiu Giulia and Marshal Sommacal Alex of the Carabinieri Station of Lamezia Terme and the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department of Catanzaro participated in the event. The young kindergarten students actively participated in the project. In fact, they recited the poem “The Garden of Legality” to the guests present, sang “Pensa” by Fabrizio Moro and prepared drawings relevant to the theme, arousing emotion, as well as listening carefully to the speeches and asking questions.

It was considered important, the note continues, “to promote this day also within a nursery school as it is essential to spread fundamental concepts to the new generations, to the citizens of the future, such as: legality, justice, respect, honesty, freedom. This meeting was a first step in their lives for all the children to understand fundamental concepts that will be part of their life and cultural background.” The mayor, speaking to the children, underlined how “these initiatives are important because they are the hope for building a better world and being with them certainly brings a breath of clean air”. The Mayor, in dialogue with them, encouraged them to always do what is right and, if necessary, to reprimand their elders when they behave wrongly. Marshal Marongi and Marshal Sommacal explained the function of the Carabiniere and the police forces who have the task of enforcing the laws. In a practical way they made them understand the importance of small gestures such as fastening their seat belt in the car, respecting traffic lights, crossing at pedestrian crossings and making them understand that the figure of the policeman must be seen as that of a friend to whom one can turn when finds himself in difficult situations.

The staff of the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department of Catanzaro, capturing the attention of even the youngest, focused on the importance of respecting nature in general such as animals and plants. In view of the summer period they underlined, for example, how jellyfish must not be removed from the sea because they have a fundamental ecological role, clarifying that when you see a jellyfish on the seashore you simply have to try to make it go away. In a moment that fascinated every single child, they listened to the sound of plants, because plants, like us human beings, communicate. The day ended with the planting of the tree of legality, brought by the Carabinieri Biodiversity department which was planted under concession from the Municipality of Lamezia Terme in the “Felice Mastroianni” park, to symbolize “the constant commitment to education, already in the very young students, to legality and respect for the laws, of the private school La Sirenetta 3.0, precisely because it is believed that legality grows on school desks. A tree of legality that students will see grow and become strong and robust day by day.”
