L’Open Day of the port of Trieste returns Sunday 26 May. Arrived at its sixth editionthe Open Day is promoted by the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, together with trade associations, operators and the port community.

At the moment, more than 400 people are expected, organized in 8 shifts of visits. This day open to the public will also involve those who work there every day. In fact, the operators themselves will be entrusted with the task of telling the details of their professions and activities.

The stages of the Open day of the Port of Trieste

Registrations opened on May 12th for a total of 400 seats and they sold out in two days, a sign that there is increasingly more interest in learning more about the airport’s activities, especially after the initiative was stopped due to the pandemic period.

Organized in 8 roundsstarting at 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17, the Open Day takes place this year over a single day and is divided into various stages.

After a general presentation in the historic headquarters of the Lloyd’s Tower where the activities of the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone are coordinated, by the President Zeno D’Agostino and the Secretary General Vittorio Torbianelli, we will continue by coach to discover the airport.

The novelty of this year’s open day

From this year there is something new for the Open Day of the Port of Trieste: the citizens who have registered will be the first to see the construction site area of ​​the former Servola ironworks and the adjacent terminal of the Logistics Platform ( HHLA PLT Italy). The route will then continue in the Porto Nuovo with the container terminal of Pier VII (Trieste Marine Terminal), the Silocaf (Pacorini), the Ro-Ro Terminal of Pier V (Samer Seaports&Terminals) and the Campo Marzio railway park.

What will be possible to see during the Port of Trieste Open Day Tour

During the tour, visitors will be able to discover the loading and unloading places of ships and ferries, the types of goods in transit, and the contents of the containers. The port, closely linked to industrial and manufacturing production, will show visitors its strong railway vocation, demonstrated by the presence of tracks serving each quay. It is no coincidence that Trieste is the first railway port in Italy with 12 thousand trains moved annually in the system.
