Perugia will also be among the nine provinces in which the disability reform will be tested. This was announced in a note by the Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli; the other provinces involved are those of Brescia, Catanzaro, Florence, Forlì-Cesena, Frosinone, Salerno, Sassari and Trieste. Here, the testing of the new system envisaged by Legislative Decree 62 of 2024 which simplifies the civil disability assessment system and introduces the “Life Project” will begin in 2025.
Locatelli «It is a great challenge, the first step towards an innovative approach in caring for people with disabilities. The training phase for all the bodies involved will also begin shortly – underlines the minister – and, during the course of the experimentation, we will constantly monitor the entire process. In 2025 we will also launch more extensive and widespread training which will target public bodies but also third sector bodies”. «The soul of this rule – adds Locatelli – lies in overcoming services, which are today extremely fragmented between healthcare and social services, and in the guarantee that every person with a disability can be the protagonist of their own life through the personalized and participatory “Life Project”, starting from one’s own desires and responding to one’s needs, just as foreseen by the UN Convention”.
