The value of legality at the center of administrative action. Not only through the necessary and due commemoration as on the occasion of the memory of the Capaci massacre, but above all with concrete actions.

With these objectives, on the proposal of councilors Marinella Giordano and Donatella Monteverdi, the City Council – within the project called “A(u)Tutto volume” by the artist Simonluca Spadanuda to be included in the “Scalin’arte” exhibition – yesterday has decided on the creation of a work of art in memory of the well-known anti-mafia activist Giuseppe Impastato which will take place along the staircase that connects Piazza Montegrappa – Via G. Alberti/Via V.Ambrosio and the staircase that connects Via G. Alberti/Via V.Ambrosio- Via E. Borelli (near the Gardens of San Leonardo).

The construction of the staircase is related to the use of part of the “Legality Fund”, financed by the Ministry of the Interior, which provides for its execution with the active involvement of the students of the “De Nobili” Art School.

Still with a view to a tangible commitment by the Municipal Administration in terms of the culture of legality, today an initiative dedicated to schools and families will be held within the Gutenberg project with the presence of Lorenzo Marone, already author of a book “A normal boy” – on the figure of Giancarlo Siani, journalist victim of the Camorra. Marone has always been an author committed against organized crime and tonight at 9.00 pm he will be on stage at the Teatro Comunale with the show “Generation X, semi-serious monologue of an unprepared fifty-year-old”. The initiative is included in the “Gutenberg” project in collaboration with councilors Nunzio Belcaro and Donatella Monteverdi.

“May 23rd represents one of the most painful pages in the history of our country, a day that reminds us of the tragic Capaci massacre of 1992. Yet another wound inflicted by a murderous and bloodthirsty mafia, which however began to lose on that May 23rd . A feeling of collective anger and indignation brought to life in Sicily and throughout the nation, a civil commitment of girls and boys who from that moment on influenced the fight against crime, administrative action, culture and education in our country. And which now, in this historical phase, we want to continue to honor through concrete initiatives.”
