The Municipality of Cremona joins the ‘Keep the change’ campaign

CREMONA – The council approved joining the ‘Keep the change’ campaign, promoted by Cial (National Aluminum Packaging Consortium) and created in collaboration with the Urban District of Commerce (Duc), aimed at reducing food waste in catering. The initiative is part of the policies launched some time ago by the municipal administration aimed at the fight against waste, the reduction of surpluses and the containment, in particular, of food waste.

The ‘Keep the change’ campaign, which will start in the next few weeks and will end in 2025, is the natural continuation of the one already implemented between 2017 and 2018, and intends to involve catering establishments in the adoption of communication measures and tools aimed at their customerswhich actively promote greater awareness of the ‘value of food’ and the virtuous practice of taking away uneaten food thanks to the so-called food bags also called family bag.

The National Aluminum Packaging Consortium will provide the Municipality with a tranche of aluminum trays equipped with a special cardboard cover which will then be distributed to all restaurateurs who join the initiative. In collaboration with the associations that are part of the Duc (Confcommercio Cremona, Confesercenti Cremona, Cna Cremona, Aviscom, Confartigianato Cremona), the Municipality will identify the public businesses available to join the campaign. The associations adhering to the Duc have already given their willingness to promote the initiative, using all available channels, for a period of one year, in local public establishments active in the catering sector.
