Di Staso: “The Manfredonia Hospital needs support and strengthening”

To guarantee the efficiency of services and the right to health at the “San Camillo” Hospital in Manfredonia, it is necessary to immediately unblock the arrival of at least four anesthesiologists and the OSS and nurses ranking for the long-term care department (for which the accreditation procedures), start and quickly conclude the already planned adaptation and safety works of the structure.

The issue of healthcare is one of the priorities to which we can give certain and concrete answers to our community.

Since 16 October our hospital has had a new health management headed by Dr. Savino Di Malta supported by a multidisciplinary team made up of Dr. Lara Rita Napolitano, Dr. Luigi Pio Esposto and Dr. Vincenzo Russo and in these months there are important and significant signs of recovery of functionality of the structure, which requires further reorganization and functioning both from a structural point of view and, above all, from the point of view of the medical-health personnel.

Manfredonia, in addition to having a significant number of citizens, is a point of reference for a large territorial basin that grows considerably during tourist periods, which must be given certainties.

Therefore, we must guarantee efficient services to protect human health and life. With the expected arrival of anesthesiologists, Manfredonia would have a base hospital that would also represent excellence from a surgical point of view (routine as well as orthopedics and ophthalmology), allowing the reactivation of services that currently force patients to undergo exhausting and expensive travel to other facilities.

Hence the appeal to the Local Health Authority Director Dr. Antonio Nigri, who has always been attentive to the fate and growth of “San Camillo” since his appointment, to immediately give impetus to these fundamental requests to give a future and dignity to the Manfredonia Hospital which it already boasts excellence including cardiology, psychiatry, orthopedics and could become a strategic hub with the entry into operation of the long-term care department, guaranteeing rehabilitation and pain therapy services also for cancer patients.

“San Camillo” can already count on specific medical personnel capable of guaranteeing cutting-edge services, but it needs support and strengthening, starting from the entry into service of anesthetists.

Important innovations are already facing the future of this structure, such as the latest generation diagnostic machines in Radiology which will replace the obsolete ones, already on site and in the installation phase, such as to also guarantee suitable and punctual outpatient services.
