Energy transition, Unindustria: good meeting with Minister Pichetto Fratin on Civitavecchia, working together for growth

“I thank the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin for giving us the opportunity for this meeting and for having listened very carefully to the point of view of the Civitavecchia companies regarding the strategic theme of the energy transition, with the now imminent exit from coal at the Torrevaldaliga Nord power plant” declares Cristiano Dionisi, President of Unindustria Civitavecchia, after the meeting, in Rome at the Mase headquarters, between the minister and a delegation of entrepreneurs from Civitavecchia. Present, among others, were Francesca Guerrucci, President of Small Industry of Unindustria Civitavecchia, and Paolo Sacchetti, vice-president of Federlazio and area manager of Civitavecchia.

“Our territory, in recent decades, has contributed to the national energy system in an important way, also dealing with the emergency of the gas crisis of recent years. The choice to abandon coal-fired energy production has a strong impact on our territory, above all putting the production chain of SMEs that are linked to the maintenance activities of the plants in great crisis. It is for this reason that we asked to tackle this path with the guarantee of the highest institutional levels, a request which has materialized with the opening of the Coordination Table which is working with the participation of all the actors in the field, including the But if.

Civitavecchia must be thought of as an area of development, not an area of crisis. We believe that this area can and should be considered a pilot area in which to carry out industrial projects that see our companies in the electromechanical cluster engaged in new activities, also in light of a re-skilling of the skills in the field. We must all work together for the growth and development of the territory, trying to bring together the reasons for environmental sustainability, of which the business system is the primary promoter, with the pragmatism of other sustainability plans, primarily economic. Meetings like the one with Minister Pichetto Fratin certainly go in the right direction.”
